The latest on Ronaldo's Man Utd future

World News

Manchester United have confirmed a new development involving Cristiano Ronaldo amid reports he wants an exit from club.

With United's pre-season having begun at the team's Carrington training ground on Monday, the 37-year-old is yet to report for a single session due to "family reasons".

This follows reports Ronaldo is looking to leave Old Trafford in search of UEFA Champions League football next season.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was due to travel with the rest of the Red Devils squad on a pre-season tour that kicks off today, but the club has now confirmed he will miss the trip to Asia and Australia due to a "family issue".

"Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United party scheduled to depart for our pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia on Friday," a United spokesperson said, according to the Manchester Evening News.

"He has been granted additional time off to deal with a family issue.

"Cristiano remains under contract with Manchester United for another season, and he is not for sale."

The Red Devils are set to take on Liverpool in Bangkok on 12 July, before a trip to Melbourne where they will face Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa.

While United have once again insisted he is not for sale, the Portugal international continues to be linked with the Red Devils' Premier League rivals Chelsea, who are said to be considering his services following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, while Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli are also in the conversation, although Bayern Munich have ruled themselves out of contention.
