Robert Lewandowski has seemingly taken aim at Lionel Messi following the Argentine's 2021 Ballon d'Or speech about the Poland international deserving to win the 2020 award.
After finishing second for this year's Golden Ball, the Bayern Munich striker appears to have issued a strong message to the Paris Saint-Germain attacker after he clinched his record seventh Ballon d'Or.

On the night of the ceremony, Messi made a statement about the Pole deserving to win the prestigious prize last year after organisers France Football cancelled the awards due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Robert, you deserve your Ballon d'Or. Last year, everyone was in agreement to say that you were the big winner of this award," he said at the time.
"Hopefully France Football will give you the 2020 Ballon d'Or. We all believe you deserved it and I hope you can have it at home."
Seemingly unconvinced, though, the former Borussia Dortmund striker appears to have since taken aim at the Argentine for his "empty words".
"I'm not that enthusiastic about getting the 2020 award," Lewandowski told Polish outlet Kanale Sportowym.
"I would like it [Messi's 2020 Ballon d'Or statement] to be a sincere and courteous statement from a great player, and not just an empty words."
The Bavarians talisman also expressed his feelings about losing out on the main prize to Messi.
"I felt sadness. I can't deny it," he added.
"I can't say I was happy, on the contrary. I have a feeling of sadness. To be so close, to compete with Messi, of course, I respect how he plays and what he has achieved.
"The mere fact that I was able to compete with him shows me the level that I was able to reach."
