PSG 'place 7 stars' on transfer list

World News

With Paris Saint-Germain said to have a bloated squad, the club has reportedly put seven stars up for sale in the January transfer window, including striker Mauro Icardi.

Having welcomed the likes Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, and Nuno Mendes in the previous window, PSG now find themselves having to trim their squad.

Although they managed to shift the likes of Pablo Sarabia to Sporting Lisbon on loan and Mitchel Bakker to Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal a few months ago, fringe players such as Rafinha and Layvin Kurzawa are still with the current side, but game time remains minimal for them.

It is said that Les Parisiens boss Mauricio Pochettino has already given minutes to 33 players at the club, and the upcoming window presents an opportunity for the Argentine tactician to move some players on and then work with fewer squad members and potentially have the team gel better as a result.

Per French news outlet L'Equipe, sporting director Leonardo and club chief Nasser Al Khelaifi are happy to meet their manager's request, with the club already slapping a £42 million (R884 million) price tag on Icardi.

Most of the 28-year-old's 17 appearances across all competitions this season have come from the bench, and his form in front of goal has been even more disappointing, with the striker having managed just three strikes so far this season.

Kurzawa, meanwhile, has just nine minutes under his belt in this campaign, and while he was linked with an exit in the previous window, one did not materialise, but he is expected to move on in January.

Former Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is another star who finds himself down the pecking order at PSG, with only five appearances this season, and is understood to have been transfer-listed as well – click through the gallery up top to see more stars who have been put up for sale at the Parc des Princes.
