'No Argentines at Barca is strange'

World News

Sevilla star Alejandro Papu Gomez feels it is "strange" that FC Barcelona do not have any Argentine players in their first-team squad following the recent exits of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.

Sevilla are set to take on Barca on Tuesday night in a decisive LaLiga clash that could see Julen Lopetegui's men close the six-point gap between them and log leaders Real Madrid, while a win for the Blaugrana could catapult them into the top four.

Speaking ahead of that match in a virtual press conference KickOff was present for, Los Nervionenses and Argentina midfielder Gomez revealed how unusual it will be for him to see a Barca side without any Argentines in it.

"It is very clear that in the last 10 to 15 years, Barcelona had the best player in world history, Lionel Messi," the Albiceleste star answered when asked what he thinks of a Blaugrana team with no Argentines in it now that Messi and Aguero have left the Camp Nou.

"It is not just strange for me, but I think it is also strange for all fans in Spain and worldwide.

"It is strange not seeing him wearing the Barca jersey because we were accustomed to seeing him playing for Barca for so long.

"But these are things that can happen in football, they are normal, and that is it, he has turned a new page.
