Neymar's ego stops Zlatan return?

World News

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly declined the opportunity to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic over fears that his ego would clash with Neymar's.

According to the Daily Star, with his agent believed to have approached the French giants about taking the AC Milan striker back to the Parc des Princes, the Swede's larger-than-life personality has essentially spoiled a possible return to his old club.

It is claimed that Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola was in contact with Les Parisiens regarding a potential short-term deal for his client, but Pochettino rejected his advances as he felt that the 39-year-old's presence would disrupt a dressing room that already includes a big personality in Neymar.

While it is unclear whether or not the two stars would in fact get along, there have been a few reports of ill-discipline in the PSG camp over the past few years, with the club getting a bit of a reputation for certain players not always being cordial with each other or under a manager.

With Ibrahimovic having won four league titles with Les Parisiens between 2012 and 2016, a return to his former club is believed to be something he was open to.

The former Manchester United and La Galaxy striker did sign a one-year contract extension with Milan earlier this year, though, which will see him play for the Rossoneri into his forties should he stay put in Italy.
