Morocco gives Barca star second chance

World News

Morocco has given an FC Barcelona star another call up to the national team just three months after the youngster snubbed them for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Barcelona's Ez Abde received another call up ahead of the Atlas Lions 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The 20-year-old declined his first opportunity to represent his country in January when he reportedly decided to focus on his club career instead.

Diario AS also reported that the attacker expressed his wishes to represent Spain but has changed his mind now due to his current situation.

It is understood that Abde is enticed by the prospect of playing at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, as opposed to only representing the La Roja under-21s.

The La Masia product has also struggled to get game time under Xavi Hernandez, which has seen him drop to Barca's B team

The North African giants will also be without Hakim Ziyech, who has quit international football after a fallout with the current head coach Vahid Halilhodzic.

The Chelsea star was called up recently, but turned the opportunity down once again, saying he has "no choice".

“I’m sorry to disappoint the fans, this was not an easy decision to make, but sadly I feel I have no choice," the winger said in a statement, according to the Daily Mirror.

“Despite giving my all to the team over the past 6 years and supporting them my entire life, the leadership continues to release misinformation about me and my commitment to my country.

“Their actions have made it impossible for me to continue to be part of the team.
