Mourinho: Messi, CR7 not the greatest

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho does not believe that Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi are the best to ever play football.

Many have regarded the superstar duo among the greatest of all time, with some arguing that Messi has surpassed the likes of Diego Maradona and Pele as football greatest.

Mourinho, who coached Ronaldo at Real Madrid, has picked the Brazilian Ronaldo as the greatest talent to ever grace the football grace.

"Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers, they have remained at the top every day for 15 years," Mourinho told LiveScore.

"However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo [Nazario].

"When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realised that he was the best player I'd ever seen take to the field.

"Injuries killed a career that could have been even more incredible, but the talent that that 19-year-old boy had was something incredible."

Ronaldo battled with a knee injury during his career but is still widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers in football history.
