With Mohamed Salah having signed a lucrative new deal at Liverpool, he is now among the 10 highest-paid stars in the world today.

After months of contract negotiations between the Reds and Salah's representatives, the goal-poacher finally penned a three-year extension with the club.

The Egyptian will now earn a reported weekly wage of £400 000 (R7.9 million), including bonuses, making him the top earner on Merseyside and sixth in the world, per Sportstar. 

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is still the highest-earning star in the Premier League on £500 000 (R9.9 million) a week, however. The Red Devils have one of the biggest wage bills in Europe, with two of their stars featuring among the best-paid 10 players in the game, the other being goalkeeper David de Gea.

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, who is on a two-year loan at the Wanda Metropolitano from FC Barcelona, is LaLiga's sole representative in this regard, pocketing a sizable £356 000 (R7 million) a week.

The forward is joined by France teammate Kylian Mbappe among the world's best earners. In May, Paris Saint-Germain gave the 23-year-old an eye-watering new contract said to worth a colossal £1 million (R19.8 million) a week.
