Pitso's Al Ahly stage comeback win

Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly overturned a two-goal deficit to see off Arab Contractors 3-2 in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday evening.

Captain Mohamed El-Shenawy was reduced to a bench role as Ali Lotfy earned a starting berth while Walter Bwalya was also given a run out too.

Following a tentative opening spell, Ahly had the first real chance on 33 minutes however Bwalya failed to redirect a close-range move from Mohamed Magdy Afsha on target.

The visitors put their noses in front five minutes later as Ayman Ashraf deflected Bassem Ali's effort into his own net.

It worsened for the Red Devils when Contractors entered halftime two goals up after Seif El-Gaziry made the most of a goalkeeping error from Lotfy for a simple finish.

Mosimane made a switch in the second half as he brought in Tarek Mohamed who filled in for Kahraba in the final third.

The move from the South African-born coach reaped rewards 20 minutes following the restart when Mohamed netted against his former club to give Ahly a lifeline.

Contractors though came close to restore their two-goal advantage 67 minutes in from a free-kick by Mohamed Smari, but it was helped onto the crossbar by Lotfy.

However, the Red Devils levelled matters two minutes thereafter as Mohamed Sherif managed to get on the end of a well-taken move to convert with ease.

The win was secured ten minutes from time when Magdy delivered a well-orchestrated curler past Contractors goalkeeper Hassan Shahin to maintain Al Ahly's unbeaten start to the campaign.
