Bayern boss hints at Mane U-turn?

World News

One of Bayern Munich's chiefs has seemingly hinted that the club's pursuit of Liverpool star Sadio Mane could soon take another turn.

The Bavarians have already placed two bids for the Senegal international, with the latest said to be worth £30 million (R590 million).

The offers were turned down, though, with the Reds understood to value the African at £43 million (R846 million), despite his contract expiring at the end of next season.

It has also been claimed that the aforementioned bid "insulted" the Merseyside club due to the inclusion of Ballon d'Or and UEFA Champions League clauses that would be near-impossible to achieve.

Following the Reds' refusal to sway from their demands, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic now appears to have suggested that the Bundesliga club may just walk away from negotiations for Mane.

"Generally speaking, we're trying to strengthen our team," the 45-year-old said, per the Daily Express.

"We're working on several options in attack. The transfer market is not easy, it always depends on the financial possibilities of the club.

"I don't want to talk about players of other clubs.

"Of course, we can't rely on one option to strengthen our attack. We must have several options."

With Mane's situation unresolved, Senegal national team boss Aliou Cisse has urged the forward to "settle" his contract issues as soon as possible.

"It's not just Sadio, I'm going to talk about it for all those players who are in a situation where they have to find a club, it's complicated," the 46-year-old said, per the Daily Mail.

"Why? Because it is all this problem that awaits us for the World Cup, which is in November.

"And I tell my boys to try to settle the contract problems so that when their respective championships resume, they will have already found a base. I heard about Sadio at Bayern.

"Bayern is intensity, pressure football with a German coach.

"Sadio played in Salzburg in Austria which is a border country, and that means he is not going into unknown territory.

"For me, the club where he will feel the best is Bayern."
