Chelsea & Villarreal complete UCL last 8 line-up

UEFA Champions League

Lille 1-2 Chelsea (Chelsea win 4-1 on aggregate)

Champions Chelsea progressed to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals after defeating Lille 2-1 in the second leg.

Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso came back into the Chelsea side. Meanwhile, Lille made two changes as Renato Sanches replaced Gabriel Gudmundsson and Burak Yilmaz took the place of Onana.

It was a cagey opening half an hour with chances few and far between. Early on Jorginho was caught dallying on the ball and Andre stole it back and fed Yilmaz, whose effort from 20 yards was deflected behind by Thiago Silva.

Jonathan David then won a free-kick off Andreas Christensen for Lille early on but Yilaz blazed the set-piece over the bar.

Chelsea suffered a blow just after the half-hour mark as FC Barcelona target Christensen went off with injury to be replaced by Trevor Chalobah.

Lille won a penalty in the 38th minute when Xeka chested the ball towards Jorginho inside the area and it struck the Chelsea midfielder's arm at close range with VAR overturning the original decision of no penalty. Yilmaz stepped up and placed the ball into the top-right corner with great composure.

Chelsea equalised right on the stroke of half-time. After a patient buildup from the Blues Jorginho found a yard of space around 20 yards from goal and threaded through a beautifully weighted pass to pick out Christian Pulisic in the box and the American cut inside and curled the ball into the far post corner.

Yilmaz was proving to be a constant thorn in the Chelsea defence. Just after the hour mark, the Turk whipped in a teasing cross to fiind Xeka, who headed against the upright.

Lille were made to rue their missed opportunities as Chelsea edged in front in the 71st minute. Mason Mount receives the ball in the area and crossed from the left towards the back post and Azpilicueta ran onto it and turned it into the back of the net to make it 2-1 in the match and 4-1 on aggregate.

It could have easily been 3-1 in the closing stages but for the reflexes of Lille goalkeeper Leo Jardim, who came out quickly to block a low shot by Alonso, after Kante played the wing-back in with a throughball.

Juventus 0-3 Villareal (Villareal win 4-1 on aggregate)

Juventus were sent crashing out of the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 after an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Villareal in the second leg.

Juve had the first chance in the 11th minute when Alvaro Morata rose in the box to get on the end of a cross and headed towards the left-hand post and Geronimo Rulli made a fine save to beat the header away.

Soon after, Rulli was called into action again as Morata sent Dusan Vlahovic through on goal and the Villarreal goalkeeper dived across to stop the Serbian's powerful drive.

The Old Lady were dominating proceedings after a slow start and in the 23rd minute Mattia De Sciglio's low cross found Vlahovic at the near post who hammered it at goal with his left foot but it cannoned back off the crossbar.

On the half-hour mark, Arthur's silly pass through the middle was intercepted by Dani Parejo. Villarreal broke quickly and Arnaut Danjuma beat his man down the left to cross as Giovanni Lo Celso miscued but they had another bite at the cherry as it came back out to Serge Aurier, who blazed wide.

In the 35th minute, Juan Cuadrado's corner found its way to Matthijs De Ligt, but the Dutchman couldn't get enough power on his header and then Rulli was equal to Vlahovic's glanced header towards goal.

Shortly before half-time, Rulli had to race off his line to stop Vlahovic from reaching Juan Cuadrado's throughball.

The Yellow Submarine won a penalty with 15 minutes to go when Francis Coquelin was fouled by Rugani. Gerard Moreno stepped up and fired the ball into the bottom right corner.

Villareal doubled their lead in the 85th minute when Pau Torres prodded the corner into the net with a side-foot finish after Aurier had flicked it on at the near post.

Juve were well and truly falling apart as they went 3-0 behind in the 89th minute. De Ligt blocked a shot with his hand in the box and Danjuma placed the penalty into the bottom left corner for a historic win.
