Percy Tau has hit back at detractors over his move to Anderlecht and opened up about their upcoming clash against his former side Club Brugge.
Tau, 26, spent last season on loan at Brugge after failing to acquire a work-permit to represent Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League and went on to win the Jupiler Pro League title.
Having won the Proximus Player of the Season with Royal Union Saint Galloise before his league title success in the 2019/20 season, questions were raised about his return to Belgium with Vincent Kompany's side.
But Tau has hit back at the noise and explained what his ambitions are for the current season with the 34-time league champions.
"I try to estimate what I need in my career and that was Anderlecht. If people find that strange, then that is their right," the Bafana Bafana star told Het Laatste Nieuws.
"The aim must be to become champion [of the league] and take the [Belgian] Cup. What else are we doing it for? I did not become a footballer for fame."

Ahead of what is expected to be a heated visit to the Jan Breydel Stadium, where he's set to face his former employers on 4 October, Tau revealed he's not worried about how the fans may react to his return when the two most successful clubs in the country meet for the first time this season.
"[It's] part of the game. I will do everything I can to win with Anderlecht. I will not focus on the fans. My supporters - and there are many - will be behind me, regardless of my choices."
Tau has scored two goals in his first four appearances for the Belgian giants since his arrival from The Seagulls last month.
