LigaPro outfit Academica have confirmed the signing of Mihlali Mayambela from Farense on a season-long loan deal.

Mayambela, 24, has moved on from the Portuguese top-flight side after falling out of favour in the first-team since his return from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda.

However, he will now be aiming to help his new club secure promotion for the second half of the 2020/21 season as they currently sit in second place and four points off league leaders Estoril.

"Mayambela is a reinforcement of Académica. The 24-year-old South African winger comes to Briosa on loan from Farense, and is thus another option for our team to attack," the statement read on social media.

The fleet-footed winger becomes the second South African at the club after midfielder Genino Palace joined their U-23 squad from Braga in the off-season.

Mayambela has scored six goals and registered five assists in 46 games for Farense since joining the club from Swedish side Djurgarden in July 2018.
