South African-born wonderkid Andras Nemeth earned his professional debut in Belgium, marking a major step towards a promising career.

Nemeth, 17, has been touted as one of the brightest attacking prospects at Belgian side Genk after making rapid strides in the club's reserve team in 2019.

His performances in the UEFA Youth League and U-17 World Cup with Hungary further enhanced his reputation and a loan deal with Lommel SK was confirmed in January to further his development.

This past weekend, the Cape Town-born teenager came up against Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet, whose Oud-Heverlee Leuven outfit currently lead the Proximus League.

While Lommel were on the wrong end of a 3-0 result, it marked a memorable occasion for Nemeth as he made his first step into senior club football as a second-half substitute.

The towering striker scored three goals in six games at the U-17 World Cup as he led Hungary to a fifth-place finish.
