Xavi 'cuts' 4 Barcelona stars

Xavi Hernandez has reportedly told four Barcelona stars they can leave the club in this transfer window.

The Spanish boss was appointed to the Camo Nou hot seat in November 2021, and despite having already made some signings since his arrival, the majority of the team consists of players who were signed by previous managers.

With Xavi looking to shape the team further in his vision, it is likely that more incomings and outgoings will take place as the club also looks to balance the books.

Phil Coutinho and Dani Alves's departures have already been confirmed by Barca, while Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet are understood to be on the verge of making a Premier League switch to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.

Luuk de Jong and Adama Traore's loan spells with the team have ended too, while Ousmane Dembele is officially out of contract, although it remains to be seen if a new deal can still be agreed with the Catalans.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Xavi has now told La Masia graduates Oscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig to not attend pre-season training as they are not in his plans going forward.

Both of their contracts are set to expire next year, and this transfer window may represent the last opportunity for the Catalan giants to offload the pair as they could potentially sign pre-contracts with new teams in January 2023.

Defender Samuel Umtiti, whose time with the Blaugrana has been overshadowed by multiple injuries, is another player who has reportedly been told not to report for pre-season.

The Frenchman was expected to part ways with the Spanish club ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, but surprisingly ended up signing a new deal on reduced wages. It is understood a return to France is on the cards for him, however.

Denmark striker Martin Braithwaite has also been told that his future lies away from Barca, per Mundo Deportivo.

Here are 10 players Barca could soon sign, according to various reports!
