Real Madrid star avoids jail time

Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has avoided jail time in Serbia after breaking lockdown regulations earlier this year.

Jovic has reached an agreement with the Serbian Public Prosecutor's Office to pay a €30 000 (R553 million) fine after being caught breaking his mandatory confinement in March.

According to Spanish publication Sport h/t COPE, the 22-year-old initially refused to pay the fine, but reconsidered his decision after being threatened with a six-month prison sentence.

The forward found himself in hot water after breaking lockdown regulations in his homeland when he travelled to Serbia from Madrid in Spain, which, at the time, was Europe's epicentre for the coronavirus.
