LaLiga's first 2020/21 sacking confirmed

LaLiga side Celta Vigo have confirmed that manager Oscar Garcia has been relieved of his duties.

Garcia becomes the first manager to lose his job since the 2020/21 campaign kicked off in September, winning the proverbial sack race after just one victory in Celta's opening nine matches this season.

"Oscar Garcia Junyent and his coaching staff will no longer be in charge of the RC Celta bench," the club announced via its official website on Monday.

"The club expresses its most sincere gratitude, both to the Catalan coach and his collaborators, for their work, professionalism and effort demonstrated during their time at RC Celta, in which they managed to certify their permanence in a complicated 2019/20 season.

"RC Celta wishes Oscar Garcia and his assistants every success in the future, both professionally and personally."

The former Spain youth international joined Celta in November last year and helped the club narrowly avoid relegation on the final day of the 2019/20 season.
