New developments in Messi-Barca saga

FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has reportedly addressed speculation linking him with a move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City at the end of the season.

Messi's future at Barcelona has come under intense scrutiny over the last year and the six-time Ballon d'Or winner was previously involved in a protracted saga with the club which culminated in him handing in a formal transfer request.

The Argentine forward ultimately recanted on his decision to force a move away but has since allowed his contract to run down and will be a free agent when his current deal expires in June, sparking interest from some of the biggest clubs around the world.

Among them, reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG and English giants City have emerged as the clear favourites, with both sides having been reported to have been in contract with Messi and his representatives regarding a potential move at the end of the season.

However, according to Goal journalist Ruben Uria, who released the worldwide exclusive surrounding Messi's contractual saga last year, there have been no such talks with either club or any other club, and the 33-year-old will be the one to make his next move public when the time arises.

It is said that the veteran forward has grown frustrated by the constant media speculation surrounding his future and will now personally confirm his plans at the end of the season, whether that means staying at Barcelona or moving elsewhere.
