Atletico Madrid stamped their authority on second spot with a 3-2 victory over Valencia at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday.
The home side went ahead after nine minutes through Alvaro Morata before Kevin Gameiro equalised for Los Che 36 minutes in.
Antoine Griezmann restored the home side's lead shortly after the interval, only for Daniel Parejo to level from the spot after 77 minutes.
However, Angel Correa stole all three points with a late finish nine minutes from time as Marchelino’s side drop out of the top-four.
Espanyol 1-1 Celta de Vigo
Espanyol failed to build on their positive run of form with a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at the RCDE Stadium.
The hosts looked headed for victory after grabbing a halftime lead courtesy of a 33rd minute strike from Wu Lei.
Celta forced a point with a 72nd minute strike from Maximiliano Gomez to jump into 15th spot, while Espanyol sit in ninth place.

Levante 4-0 Real Betis
Real Betis' quest to secure continental football fell in tatters after a 4-0 defeat to Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
A ninth minute strike from Jose Campana put the Frogs on their way, with their second coming on 26 minutes through an own-goal from Loren Moron.
Jose Morales added a third from the penalty spot after 56 minutes before Coke completed matters after 81 minutes, as Levante jumped to 14th place.
