'I don't want to replace Ronaldo'

Real Madrid starlet Rodrygo Goes has played down comparisons between himself and Los Blancos all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, following an impressive start to life in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos made a number of big-money acquisitions in the last transfer window, including Eden Hazard, but it is the 18-year-old who has the caught the eye so far.

Rodrygo bagged a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, while he also has two LaLiga goals from two starts this season.

Real are yet to fill the void left by Ronaldo, who netted 450 goals in 438 appearances, but Rodrygo does not want to be compared to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

“I don't want to take the pressure of replacing Cristiano.” Rodrygo said, according to Cadena Cope.

“I didn't expect everything to be so fast. Not even in my dreams when I was playing for Santos, (this year) is incredible.

“I talk a lot with Raul (Gonzalez, Castilla boss and Madrid legend) and he helps me with advice and his experience.”
