Ex-Downs coach slams Barca's 'lies'

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Hristo Stoichkov has criticised the Barcelona management for allowing Lionel Messi to leave for free.

The Argentine was officially unveiled as Paris Saint-Germain player this week after it was confirmed he will not be returning to the Camp Nou.

The Catalans were unable to afford Messi's services due their financial issues and LaLiga's current wage structure, which has also dampened their chances of registering their new signings.

“I see him now, with this image, with another shirt, it’s different," the former Barcelona star said in an interview with TUDN, as per Diario AS.

“I find it strange that people promised, that people played on his heart…’I am going to make it possible, ‘ I want to’, ‘I do’.

“But in the end the lie has become very big.

“It’s very strange, this image. It’s difficult, but life is like this. Wherever he goes, I will always respect him for all that he has done for Barcelona, all that he has done for the people, for my children. I have been very fortunate to have it. It’s difficult.”
