Griezmann: I can be Barca's No.9


After FC Barcelona failed to sign a striker in the January transfer window, Antoine Griezmann he is happy to take on the No.9 role in the absence of Luis Suarez.

With Suarez set to miss a large part of the second half of the season, the Catalan giants were linked with a number of strikers last month.

Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Valencia's Rodrigo were reportedly high on the club's wish-list, but no official move was made.

The Spanish champions will no rely on Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati to bang in the goals as they chase LaLiga and Champions League honours.

“If the club need me as a No.9, I'm here to help,” Griezmann said after the Copa del Rey win over

“If I'm on the left or in the middle, perfect. All I want is to help the team.

“I'm used to playing inside - I know where to move and I have more freedom, but I'm at this club to help.”

The 2018 World Cup winner has bagged nine goals and four assists across all competitions this season.
