Barca 'reject' ex-star's offer to return

FC Barcelona have reportedly declined the chance to re-sign their former star Arthur from Juventus, despite the player being willing to take a pay cut to secure the move.

According to Sport, the Blaugrana were handed an opportunity to once again enter into a swap deal with Juve involving Arthur and Miralem Pjanic, but the Catalan giants emphatically rejected the chance to re-sign the Brazilian due to a lack of professionalism, among other reasons.

Both players have failed to make an impact at their respective clubs since their switch in September 2020, with Pjanic making only 19 LaLiga appearances for Barca last season, while Arthur featured only 22 times in the Italian top flight.

It is understood that the Brazil midfielder offered to return to the LaLiga giants, and was also willing to take a salary cut in order to ensure that the move took place, but according to Sport, Barcelona are not interested in a reunion with a player they feel "is unprofessional, [has a] tendency to injure himself and because he is not decisive in the field".

Meanwhile, with the Blaugrana understood to want to get Pjanic off their wage bill, reports in Italy suggest that the Bosnian is edging closer to a return to Juve, and has agreed to a 20% pay cut to do so.
