Greizmann to replace Coutinho?

The agent of FC Barcelona club-record signing Philippe Coutinho has opened up on rumours that Antoine Greizmann will replace his client at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona's Champions League defeat by Liverpool has convinced the club to activate the release clause of forward Antoine Griezmann who has announced he is leaving Atletico Madrid yesterday - according to Marca.

His touted move to Barca could leave the situation of some of the club's attacking players up in the air, amongst them Coutinho, who, in his second season at Camp Nou, has registered just 11 goals in 53 games.

According to Spanish publication Sport, the LaLiga champions want to sell the 26-year-old for a cut-price £86.8m (R1.5bn).

However Coutinho's agent Andrea Bertolucci has denied the media reports brewing that suggest his client will be sold in order for the Blaugrana to finance a deal for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

"It's untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona," Bertolucci told AS.

"I don't know why they are saying that. I don’t know about that and that's why I don't want to talk anymore, but it's false."

Coutinho joined the Spanish giants from Liverpool in January 2018 for a staggering £130.50m (R2.4bn) transfer fee.
