FC Barcelona coach Quique Setien has confirmed the club's interest in an Inter Milan striker, who is seen as Luis Suarez's long-term replacement.
Striker Lautaro Martinez has reportedly been the subject of interest from Barcelona for the past year, while Real Madrid are also said to be keen.
After months of speculation, Setien has now confirmed that the Catalan giants are interested in the Argentine, who has reported release clause of €111million.
“He’s an important player, a great player, and Barcelona are always interested in great players, of course,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But in these times without football, a different name comes out every day. There’s also been talk of Neymar. And I’m sure you’ll ask me about Fabian Ruiz.”
Whena asked about Martinez's connection with Lionel Messi for Argentina, Setien added,“You’ll have to ask him about that. All jokes aside, all good players can attract Barcelona’s interest, that is clear.
“It’s also true that, for many players, the fact of being able to play with Messi represents a huge incentive.”
