A consortium led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and also consisting of PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media is reportedly set to take over the Magpies if their prospective £300 million (R6 billion) deal is approved approved by the EPL.
This would bring an end to Mike Ashley's 14-year tenure as the owner at St James' Park and could propel the Tyneside club into further fame for having the world's richest football club owners.
According to the Express, the Saudi group boasts a net worth of £320 billion (R6.4 trillion), 10 times more than the Citizens' owners and 50 times more than PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi's.

Manchester United's Glazer family, meanwhile, are valued in the region of £3.5 billion (R70 billion). The American family bought shares of the club between 2003 and 2005 to eventually complete a takeover.
Per The Indian Express, Red Devils supporters have since often protested the family's ownership after the club was purchased through loans made by Malcolm Glazer, which have resulted in the side having large amounts of debt.
