Rangnick to offload surprise Utd star?

English Premier League

A shock new report has suggested that Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick is prepared to offload one of the club's most popular attackers.

Although he is only two matches into his tenure with the Red Devils, the German boss is now reportedly ready to make a surprising call in his bid to restructure his squad.

Rangnick has a number of wide and offensive options at his disposal, with players such as Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford all having to compete for only a couple of starting positions, with Cristiano Ronaldo also said to be "untouchable".

This depth has kept some of them out of the side, and it has now been reported that this has prompted Rangnick to decide which attackers he will keep in his team going forward.

With Sancho having just joined the club in a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund, his place in the side seems safe, while Greenwood is said to be highly thought of, thus leaving England international Marcus Rashford as the forward who could soon be offloaded, according to El Nacional.

The 24-year-old, who is considered a fan favourite among United supporters as he has been with the Red Devils since joining the academy in 2005, has struggled with a number of injuries over the past couple of years, and FC Barcelona have reportedly shown an interest in signing him.

In another new development, meanwhile, Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley has confirmed that his client wants to leave Old Trafford, citing a lack of game time.

"Anthony wishes to leave the club in January," he told Sky Sports.

"He just needs to play. He doesn't want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon."
