Newcastle United 3-2 Southampton
Southampton lost their fifth game in a row after a 3-2 defeat against ten-man Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
Joe Willock and Miguel Almiron gave the Magpies a two-goal lead that was reduced to 2-1 by Liverpool loanee Takimi Minamino at the Saints on the half-hour mark.
Almiron restored a two-goal lead for Newcastle in first-half stoppages and got his brace and James Ward-Prowse gave Southampton hopes of a comeback after pulling a goal back three minutes from the break.
The Saints were given a lifeline two minutes later after United were reduced to ten men following the second booking of Jeff Hendrick who was sent off but Newcastle held on to a 3-2 win.
Burnley 1-1 Brighton and Hove Albion
Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau was an unused substitute as Brighton and Hove Albion extended their unbeaten run to four matches after playing to a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor.
Lewis Dunk broke the deadlock for Brighton in the 36th minute but Johann Berg Gudmundsson snatched the equaliser for the Clarets eight minutes from the break.
The Seagulls moved up to 15th place on the log with 25 points, 11 points clear of the relegation zone while Burnley moved nine points clear of the drop zone in 17th place.
Sean Dyche's charges will be in FA Cup action on Tuesday evening when they host Championship side Bournemouth in the fifth round while Graham Potter's men will visit Leicester City on Wednesday.
