Police probe Sterling 'hate crime'

English Premier League

According to reports, Sterling was racially abused and kicked in the leg when he pulled into the entrance of the car park before City's Premier League clash with Tottenham at the Etihad on Saturday evening.

Sterling went on to score twice in a 4-1 win over Spurs as Pep Guardiola's side maintained an 11-point lead at the summit with a record-extending 16th straight league win.

GMP have since said in a statement: "Enquiries will be carried out and officers are treating it as a hate crime."
