Newcastle's 5-man Jan wish list revealed?

English Premier League

With the January transfer window just weeks away, Newcastle United reportedly have a five-man wish list of stars, said to be worth a combined €85 million (R1.5 billion), they want to sign next month.

The Magpies, who are currently in the Premier League's relegation zone with only one win in 15 matches, have been linked with a plethora of players since their recent billionaire takeover.

Despite their managerial change in November, the side has continued to struggle under new boss Eddie Howe, but he has now identified five players to target in the January transfer window in an attempt to improve results, per the Daily Mirror.

The first name on the list is Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny, whose contract in London is set to expire at the end of this campaign.

Valued at €10 million (R177 million) by Transfermarkt, the Egyptian midfielder has fallen down the pecking order since Albert Sambi Lokonga's arrival at the Gunners in July and is reportedly set to leave the Emirates in the new year.

Another player being considered is Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly, who was signed for the Cherries by Howe in 2019.

The English coach seemingly sees the centre-back, who also has a market value of €10 million (R177 million), as a possible solution to a defence that has conceded an average of two goals per league game this season.

Kelly is reportedly not the only defender on Newcastle's radar, though, with Lille's Sven Botman also among the names mentioned.

The Dutch star, said to be worth €28 million (R497 million), helped his side secure the Ligue 1 title last season, and was linked with a move to Manchester United in the most recent transfer window.

Another two centre-backs in Tottenham Hotspur's Joe Rodon and Borussia Monchengladbach's Matthias Ginter, who are valued at a combined €37 million (R657 million) by Transfermarkt, are also reportedly on the Tyneside club's wish list.
