United 'contact' Bruno replacement

English Premier League

Manchester United are said to have made contact with Bruno Fernandes' replacement at Sporting Lisbon on transfer deadline day.

With United yet to find a consistent performer on the right side of midfield since club legend Cristiano Ronaldo and new signing Amad Diallo signed as 'one for the future' - the club have been in search for an alternative option.

Jesse Lingard's loan exit to West Ham United in the final week of the window saw the Red Devils return to Sporting to enquire about Pedro 'Pote' Goncalves who replaced Fernandes after his switch to Old Trafford in January 2020.

Since then the 22-year-old has netted 12 goals in 13 league outings and Portuguese publication Record claims United have now shortlisted him as a potential transfer target.

Sporting are said to have issued a hands-off warning as they challenge for the LigaNos title this season ahead of Benfica and FC Porto.

Ir's believed that the former Wolverhampton youngster has a release clause of £53-million, which the Portuguese giants will hold out for should he attract further interest in the next transfer window.
