Liverpool confirm 10th departure

English Premier League

Liverpool have confirmed the sale of highly-rated England youth international Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United.

Brewster has signed a five-year deal with Chris Wilder's side after spending the past five years on Merseyside, during which he made four senior appearances either side of a loan spell with Swansea City in the Championship.

"Rhian Brewster has completed a deal to join Sheffield United on a permanent transfer, Liverpool Football Club can confirm," the official statement said.

"...Everybody at Liverpool would like to wish Rhian all the very best for his future career."

United have reportedly paid Liverpool a sum of £23.5 million (R406 million) for the 20-year-old's signature, which includes a 15% sell-on clause and a buyback option that will remain valid for the next three years.

Brewster joined the Reds in 2015 after spending his formative years in Chelsea's youth structures, and soon developed into one of the nation's most promising players, going on to win the Golden Boot award during England's 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup triumph.

However, his progression was halted by serious knee and ankle injuries he sustained in 2018, which ruled him out for the better part of a year, before he returned to make his senior debut for the club in the League Cup during the 2018/19 season.

He then spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea, for whom he netted 10 times in 20 appearances to help the club qualify for the promotion play-offs, where they fell short after losing to Brentford in the play-off semi-finals.
