'Liverpool can't accept all Salah's demands'

English Premier League

A Liverpool legend has warned Mohamed Salah that the club cannot accept all his contract demands amid reports he is asking for a big pay raise.

Salah has once again been a standout performer the Reds this season, having registered 27 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

There have been reports that Salah is looking to become one of the highest-paid players in the league by earning £400 000 (R8.1 million) a week.

However, Reds legend John Barnes feels the club cannot give in to every demand the Egyptian makes even if he is their talisman.

“If Mohamed Salah wants a 10-year contract, that takes him up until he’s 40 years old and he wants £300 000 a week, should Liverpool really accept that? Of course not,” Barnes told BonusCodesBet.

“Liverpool cannot accept every single contractual demand; they are making the right decision [by not giving in]. They are simply looking at Salah’s age.

“They love Mo, and they want him to stay, but there must be a compromise on both sides. If he was 28 and wanted a five-year contract, then fair enough.

“The days of just accepting a player’s every contract demand are gone."
