Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has detailed his first-ever meeting with Senegal star Sadio Mane, who is now among the best players in the world.
During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp was reportedly interested in signing the Senegalese forward from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.
In a documentary about the African Player of the Year, The German tactician revealed he was put off by the player's outfit.
"There was a really young guy sitting there," Klopp said in the documentary called Made in Senegal, as per the Evening Standard.
"His baseball cap was askew, the blond streak he still has today… he looked like a rapper just starting out.
"I thought, 'I don’t have time for this'.
"I'd say I have a pretty good feeling for people, but I was wrong."
Since joining Liverpool from Southampton in 2016, the Senegalese forward has registered an impressive 77 goals and 34 assists in 161 appearances.
