Blues' new stadium plans approved

English Premier League

The Blues' have long been planning a £1bn upgrade of their famous home ground but hit a speed bump in May after a local family took out an injunction over the expansion of the stadium.

The family cited a 'right to light' as their reasoning, with fears the stadium expansion would cast a shadow over their home and block sunlight.

However, the council decided to exercise statutory powers which supersedes the injunction, although the family will be entitled to statutory compensation.

The Blues will now be able to continue plans to expand the Bridge, with the build being signed off by the Mayor of London.
