English Premier League

Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 Shrewsbury Town

High-flying Premier League outfit Wolves survived a resilient Shrewsbury side to nab a 3-2 win at the Molineux Stadium.

Matt Doherty got the game up and running inside two minutes, but James Bolton levelled within a few minutes before Josh Sault give the visitors a surprise lead.

However, Doherty completed his brace in the final minute of the half to restore parity, leaving Ivan Cavaleiro to finish off the contest an hour into the second stanza for the hosts.

Brentford 3-1 Barnet

Brentford booked their spot in the fifth round following a 3-1 win at home to Barnet in a fourth-round replay.

After taking a two-goal at the break through Sergi Canos and Julian Jeanvier, the visitors were plundered into further misery with Neal Maupay rounding off proceedings despite David Tutonda’s consolation late on.

Newport County 2-0 Middlesbrough

Championship side Middlesbrough were stunned by League One outfit Newport who claimed a 2-0 win to advance to the next round.

A lukewarm first half which ended goalless was quickly set alight with the opener from Robbie Wilmott shortly after the break.

In the latter phases of the match, Padraig Amond came to the fore and added a second for a memorable evening as the hosts' fairy-tale cup run lives on.

Queens Park Rangers 2-0 Portsmouth

Queens Park Rangers sent Portsmouth crashing out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 triumph at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening.

In the battle of the former Premier League duo, QPR showed more verve after a goalless first half to end on the winning side courtesy of goals from Nahki Wells and Matt Smith.
