Christian Eriksen came to Tottenham Hotspur's rescue against Brighton and Hove Albion, while Southampton and Watford shared the spoils on Tuesday evening.
Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Brighton Hove and Albion
Tottenham Hotspur needed a late stunner from Christian Eriksen to get past a stubborn Brighton Hove and Albion on Tuesday.
Following a goalless first half, the encounter headed for a stalemate until Eriksen took matters into his own hands with a powerful finish 88 minutes in to move three points clear off fourth-place Chelsea.
It’s worrying times for Brighton, who have now gone six straight matches without scoring a goal while languishing outside the top-three.
Watford 1-1 Southampton
A last-minute strike from Andre Gray steered Watford to a 1-1 draw against Southampton at the Vicarage Road Stadium.
The Saints looked well on their way to get back to winning ways after going down at Newcastle United over the weekend with the league’s fastest goal ever through Shane Long.
However, the Hornets forced a point thanks to Grey's 90th minute equaliser to move up to seventh spot, while the visitors still hover down the barrel.
