Leicester snatch a point against Man Utd

English Premier League

The Reds saw a lot of the ball in the opening exchanges of the encounter, with Anthony Martial causing a number of problems down the left flank.

Leicester broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as Riyad Mahrez broke through goal before teeing up Jamie Vardy, who calmly side-footed past David De Gea, 1-0.

United pushed for the equaliser and they were eventually rewarded in the 40th minute when Jesse Lingard teed up Juan Mata, who placed the ball into the far corner from just inside the box.

That proved to be the final chance of the half as the sides went into the break goalless.

Eight minutes into the second half, United should have gone ahead but Anthony Martial blazed over the crossbar with only Kasper Schmeichel to beat.

The visitors did take the lead on the hour mark as Mata bagged his second on the night with a superb free-kick from 25-yards out.

In the 73rd minute, the Foxes were reduced to 10 men when when substitute Daniel Amartey picked up his second yellow card of the game.

United had a chance to extend their lead with 10 minutes remaining when Lingard rounded Schmeichel and hit the upright with the goal at his mercy.

Claude Puel's charges threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser in the final 10 minutes and they were rewarded in stoppage time when Maguire turned home Marc Albrighon's cross at the far post, 2-2.
