Wenger to contest FA charge

English Premier League

The Gunners were denied three vital points in the race for the top four as the Baggies were awarded a dubious penalty in the closing stages to snatch a draw at the Hawthorns on New Year’s Eve.

Wenger was highly critical of referee Mike Dean’s officiating and was involved in a verbal war with the referee after the match, leading to his charge of misconduct.

However, when asked if he would be contesting the charge, the Frenchman swiftly replied: “One hundred percent. You can listen to every interview I said and I stick to everything I said without any problem.

“I am 35 years in football, I know what I say after a game and I stand up for what I said. No problem.”
