Klopp: He's the talent of the century

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes the 'talent of the century' is within the Arsenal ranks after his display in the 10-goal Carabao Cup thriller at Anfield.

The Reds advanced to the quarter-final stage of the League Cup on Wednesday after the 5-4 victory on penalties, following the remarkable 5-5 draw at the end of regulation time.

And reflecting on a memorable evening as both sides fielded some of their most promising talents, the German singled out praise for the 18-year-old, who was up against fellow teenager Sepp van den Berg.

"Sepp van den Berg as well, he played an incredible game," Klopp told Liverpool's official website. "That's really difficult to deal with these guys.

"Martinelli's pretty much the same age but he's a talent of the century, he's an incredible striker, so it's really difficult."

Since joining Arsenal in the off-season from fourth division side Ituano in a deal worth €6.7 million (R112m) - the Brazil wonderkid has netted seven goals and registered one assist in just four starts.
