Maboe joined Sundowns from Maritzburg United and has already scored one goal in his two starts and one substitute appearance for the Tshwane giants.
Maboe has been registered for the CAF Champions League and is likely to make his debut in the competition against Wydad Casablanca on Friday; another opportunity for him to establish himself as a regular in coach Pitso Mosimane’s starting line-up.
Zwane has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the 23-year-old and is looking forward to seeing more going forward. Zwane and Maboe are already linking up well on the pitch with slick touches in the final third.
“I think Lebo is a good player. If you can check the way he plays, he plays the style of Sundowns. That’s what makes it easy for him to gel with us so quickly, like [Gaston] Sirino,” Zwane says.
“He is a player that works hard. He has good touches, good movement and I think he will do well for the team.”
Both players have a big role to play when they take on Wydad in Sundowns’ penultimate Group C match in Casablanca.
