The Clever Boys are currently in Angola, where they will be facing current Girabola champions Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto in Luanda this evening (17h00).
Having gained some momentum back home since their dismal start to the campaign, stringing together an eight-match unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership, Ntshangase says they are filled with optimism despite knowing very little of their opponents.
“We’re expecting a tough game. We don’t know much about them and we’ve only seen a bit of footage of them, but we know the type of profile of Angolan players,” Ntshangase tells KickOff.com.
“We expect a very physical game, they’ll want to bully us and get a result at home so that when they come to our home they can protect whatever they have.
“If we can get a draw, we know away goals will also be a big factor so we’d love to come back home with something to fall back on and obviously try to score more in the second leg.
“As a team we are ready and excited to be in this Champions League journey again, and we also want to represent the country well.”
Having previously represented South Africa at the U-23 AFCON, the 23-year-old utility player hopes to gain further continental experience by helping his club achieve their first ever group stage appearance, by winning the two-legged play-off.
“We also want to make history for the club by reaching the group stages for the first time, and that’s our goal now in our second season in the competition,” he adds.
“We’ll obviously take it one game at a time and if we can get there, we’ll see if perhaps we can also go to the knockout stage.
“So, as I’ve said, we’re looking forward to the challenge and we want to test ourselves by going as far in the competition as we possibly can.”
