Jali’s arrival has brought plenty of speculation on the former Free State Stars midfielder’s future at the club, with suggestions that he could even take the jersey no. 15.
Mohomi picked up the jersey number upon his arrival at Chloorkop two seasons ago, taking it over from fellow central midfielder Tiyani Mbunda, who is now donning no. 13.
However, the former Belgium-based Bafana Bafana international insists the number is not of importance to him, despite previously wearing it at KV Oostende, Orlando Pirates and often with the national team too.
“The jersey number is not important. What matters is what you do on the field when you wear the jersey,” Jali tells KickOff.com.
“The number at the back just doesn’t matter. I haven’t been thinking about what jersey number I’ll use because it’s not important to me. I can even use jersey number 100.”
The 28-year-old’s official jersey number will likely be revealed when the club unveils their new Puma kit for the 2018/19 campaign in the coming weeks.
