Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Paderborn

Borussia Dortmund needed extra-time to overcome a plucky Paderborn outfit 3-2 to advance to the fourth round of the DFB Pokal.

Emre Can and Jadon Sancho netted two early goals but Paderborn rallied back with goals from Julian Justvan (79') and Prince Osei Owusu to send the game to extra-time.

And Erling Braut Haaland once again came up trumps for the Borussians as he found the back of the net in the fifth minute of first-half additional time to seal their progress.

Rot-Weiss Essen Essen 2-1 Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen were left stunned as they were sent crashing out of the DFB Pokal with a 2-1 defeat to fourth-tier side Rot-Weiss Essen.

The game went to extra time after regular time ended 0-0. Leon Bailey gave the Bundesliga side the lead in the 105th minute but two goals from Oghuzan Kefkir (108') and Simon Engelmann (117') sealed a shock victory for the hosts.

Werder Bremen 2-0 Greuther Furth

Werder Bremen progressed to the fourth round with a 2-0 victory over Furth.

Kevin Mohlwald scored in the 12th minute before Felix Agu wrapped up the win in the 73rd minute.

Holstein Kiel 1-1 Darmstadt (Holstein Kiel won 7-6 on penalties)

Holstein Kiel claimed a penalty shootout victory over Darmstadt in a clash between two Bundesliga second division sides.

Janni Luca Serra broke the deadlock in the 58th minute to give Holstein Kiel the advantage but Serdar Dursun netted in the 86th minute.

And after the game could still not be decided with extra-time, Simon Lorenz scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out.
