Downs keeper dropped by Zambia


Zambia head coach Aggrey Chiyangi has named seven PSL stars in his 21-man squad to face Algeria and Zimbabwe in back-to-back 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

Chiyangi has called up 13 foreign-based players for the November 14 away match to African champions and the November 19 home tie against the Warriors.

However, the likes of Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu, Kennedy Mweene, Fashion Sakala and Rainford Kalaba have surprisingly been omitted.

Polokwane City goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe, who recently snubbed South Africa for Chipolopolo has been selected ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns stopper, Mweene.

The 34-year-old is Zambia's most capped player with 123 appearances to his name, but it appears the 2012 AFCON winner has now fallen out of favour with the national side.
