Mane's R4m Merc just a symbol of generosity

Sadio Mane recently donated close to R1-million towards the coronavirus crisis in Senegal and is often praised for his philanthropy. But his collection of supercars certainly showcase a superstar who earns an estimated R3.4-m a week at Liverpool.

The reigning African footballer of the Year is a devout Muslim and is lauded for his humility that goes against the grain of the modern football superstar.

In March, he donated 30-million CFA Francs (R902 000) to the national committee in Senegal fighting COVID-19. This after he already financed a hospital in his home village of Bambaly and donated £250,000 (R5.2-million) for a new high-school to be constructed.

Cracked iPhone = humility?

In December last year, shortly before his crowning as the 2019 CAF AFOTY, he went viral in England after being spotted with a cracked iPhone screen - which was met with the Senegal international claiming his background does not allow for material possessions to be placed on a pedestal.

"Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world?" Mane said.

"I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I earn thanks to football, I can help my people," Mané explained.

He added: "I built schools, a stadium, we provide clothes, shoes, food for people who are in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal which contributes to their family economy."

Mane sure loves his cars though

From Bentley Continental GT to Mercedes AMG G63, the Reds superstar who pockets a reported £7.8-million (R175m) a year owns several breathtaking supercars.

The classic Bentley alone ranges from R3.6-million starting price, while the G-Wagon can set you back around R4-million after-tax.

The other stylish vehicles include an Audi RS7 and a luxury Range Rover, which can be seen in the gallery above.

Did you know?

Mane holds the record for the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history when he scored three goals against Aston Villa in 176 seconds for Southampton in May 2015.
