"I am pleased with Mamelodi Sundowns this season. We have to give them credit with all the back-to-back games and travelling that they still maintain high-standard performances," Makhanya tells KickOff.com.

"I believe they will win the league because of the quality and resources they have. We have won back-to-back titles and we compete in various tournaments, so we are experienced.

"Sundowns are fortunate to have a very tactical and strategic coach, an excellent technical team and experienced players. Our advantage is that Sundowns is very consistent, which makes them a challenging team to defeat.

"Our one shortfall is the busy schedule so some of our best players can be prone to fatigue but that's where the coach's strategy comes in.

"So far we are second on the log and we still have nine games to play, so I am positive that we can have a strong finish."

Makhanya, who has been helping teach COVID-19 awareness lately, remains a big fan of goalkeeper Denis Onyango and believes the Ugandan international is one of the best in Africa.

"A goalkeeper is the last line of defence, so ultimately it comes down to one individual in the team," she adds.

"For a player like Denis to have played for so long, and to have maintained such high-standard performances, it's inspiring. He is one of the best keepers in Africa."
