Chiefs legend Shabba hits the billboards

Fame & Fortune

Although it might seem like Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala has hung up his boots, which he hasn’t, Shabba continues to show that he is quite the brand and still a force to be reckoned with!

Tshabalala is arguably one of the most renowned players of his generation in South African football, as the ex-Amakhosi star became a household name in the colours of the Soweto giants.

Scroll through the gallery above to see Siphiwe Tshabalala on the new Nike billboards, as well as a few other times he's donned the brand

On top of that, ‘Ntho tse monate’ is the scorer of arguably Bafana Bafana’s most memorable goal, as his opening strike against Mexico at the 2010 FIFA World Cup was the first goal ever on the African continent.

While his footballing career has taken an apparent decline as he is in the twilight of his professional playing years, what has not changed though, is his relevance and his affiliation with brands.

Aged 37-years-old, Shabba has quite clearly had longevity in his career, and throughout almost the entirety of it, he has always worn Nike boots – which suggests a career-long partnership with the German sportswear brand.

The former AmaZulu attacker seems to still be a Nike athlete to this day, as he recently revealed billboards of him advertising the label. Both billboards had an image of him along with inspirational messages, which we suspect are his quotes.

The one Nike ad read: “Destiny delayed is not destiny denied”, while the other said: “Touching lives is more important than winning trophies,”

Your thoughts, please?

Where would you rank Tshabalala among the greatest wingers of his generation?
