An avid Kaizer Chiefs supporter has told KickOff.com about how he met his wife at FNB Stadium over 15 years ago.
Thulani Ngcobo met his wife Zama at the stadium in 2003 but they only started dating in 2008. They are now married and can often be seen attending Amakhosi’s matches week in and out.
Thulani and Zama’s love for football was inspired by their uncles who loved the beautiful game.
Thulani is from Port Shepstone, KwaNzimakwe in KwaZulu Natal and Zama hails from EmaSwazini in Pietermaritzburg.
"What I love about her is that she is humble, respectful and she knows what she wants in life. We met at the old FNB Stadium in 2003, however we did not date then. We kept on meeting each other at the stadium whenever there was a Chiefs match. We both love football," Ngcobo tells KickOff.com.
Thulani works as an Asset Controller at the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (Pretoria Deeds Office).
"My wife does not work. So, we depend on my salary. Fortunately I have a permanent and stable job that keeps me going. I spend around R3000 for Gauteng matches and if my team plays away, I spend more than that.
“For example if we play in Durban, a single match costs me around R2000 for petrol and tollgates, excluding accommodation. I don't only attend Chiefs matches but I also go to the Stadium even if Chiefs is not playing. This includes any PSL match, Bafana Bafana match or any sporting event. Fortunately we do [own a car]. It’s the car that MTN gave to me as a gift in 2010 for being the best participant in their 2009 Last Fan Standing competition."
