Brighton Mhlongo and Willard Katsande are set to feature in the launch of a play that brings awareness to the issue that is gender-based violence.
The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa recently called on men to do better after crime statistics, for the period 1 July to 30 September 2021, revealed that more than 9 500 people were sexually assaulted in the form of rape.
According to the minister of police Bheki Cele, most of the victims were female and violated in their own homes by people they knew and trusted.

With the world being such a dangerous place for women, it is important for men to understand how to stop others from committing these harmful acts and helping to educate the future generation to be better.
The former Orlando Pirates and Kazier Chiefs duo have grasped the concept and are making a big impact as they seemingly take part in the play called “The Voice”. The show is presented by the SELLO MAAKE KANCUBE FOUNDATION & ABAFAZI BENGOMA”.
This ensemble functions for social development as they use performance arts for social advocacy and disseminating pertinent messages to society and spreading awareness.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper posted a message on social media about the play.
“As we launch 16 Days of Activism campaign, remember GBV is a pandemic that we are faced everyday and I am raising my voice, taking a stand encouraging everyone to say NO to Gender Based Violence”
While Katsande also had his own say on social media about the launch.
"One thing that we suffer from is Gender Based Violence in Africa as a whole."
"I choose to use my voice against all social ills to raise awareness. #TheVoice is a musical which will directly address such issues."
